How to make stuffed cabbage rolls in a crockpot?
When I was younger and living with my parents, my mother used to make cabbage rolls stuffed with slow cooker. I keep asking for her recipe, but remember never to give it to me. Her recipe was chopped and I think rice rolled in cabbage, and that's about all I really know. I also think she used V8 juice sauce that put it, but I'm not sure. If someone has a recipe kinda like that, it would be greatly appreciated.
Here is a recipe … you can substitute the sauce ingredients with V8 juice, if desired. 1 / 2 cup uncooked white rice 12 cabbage leaves 1 egg beaten 1 / 4 cup milk 1 / 4 cup chopped onion 1 pound ground beef 1-1/4 1-1/4 c. tea salt 1 teaspoon pepper (8 ounces) tomato sauce 1 tablespoon brown sugar 1 tablespoon lemon juice 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce Preparation: In a saucepan, bring salted water to a boil. Add rice, reduce heat, cover and simmer for 20 minutes. Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Boil cabbage leaves 2 minutes, drain. In large bowl, combine 1 cup cooked rice, eggs, milk, onion, ground beef, salt and pepper and mix well. Place about 1 / 4 cup meat mixture in center of each cabbage leaf and roll, tucking in ends. Place rolls in slow cooker. In a small bowl, combine tomato sauce, brown sugar, lemon juice and Worcestershire sauce. Pour over cabbage rolls. Cover and cook on low 8 to 9 hours.
